Welcome Visitors…we’ve been expecting you!
At Zion Lutheran Church we believe that we are partners in the Gospel. Through worship and opportunities to grow in our relationship with Jesus Christ, we reach out to the world around us to be disciples – make disciples, so that all may know of the love of our living God. We look forward to the opportunity to know you and share in your faith journey.

Announcements

ZION’S SUMMER SCHEDULE: Summer is upon us, and it has been requested and voted into agreement to make a few temporary time changes during the dog days of summer. We are pleased to announce our summer schedule:

We are grateful that we are welcome to use this space for worship and fellowship today. A donation box is in the pavilion on the reception table to accept gifts to the Secrest Arboretum. Your generosity is appreciated.

Zion’s VBS: Did you miss the Downtown VBS? Join us for bible stories, crafts and song! Zion Lutheran Church will have our very own 3-night Vacation Bible School from 6- 7:30 p.m. Monday, July 31st through Wednesday August 2nd!

Office Help: Joellen Fields our Administrative Assistant will be going on vacation. Volunteers are being sought for Monday, August 14 through Wednesday, August 16, to perform routine office tasks from 9 a.m. until Noon. If you are able to help out any of these days, please contact Joellen in the office. Your help is greatly appreciated!

Social Ministry: Thank you to all who participated in our Habitat for Humanity ecumenical build of the Jackson home located at 555 Nold Ave. last Saturday July 15th. Although weather delays had put the project behind schedule, we still stepped in and helped. We are grateful for all of your ‘Gods Work, Our Hands’ hard work to get the Jacksons closer to having a home of their own! Please return your laundered volunteer t-shirt to the church office as soon as possible. If you would like to keep your t-shirt, you may buy it for a minimum fee of $8 each! You may drop your payment in the offering plate or at the church office. Please note all payments (envelope/ check) with “GW, OH t-shirt”. Thank you!

The Gathering Grounds Coffee House: Each Wednesday about 1:00 p.m. Pr. Ann is reaching out to you and our community. She will be at the Coffee House for our community and for prayer. If you or someone you know is hesitant about coming to church, invite them to this special outreach.

Project Day: We will be meeting on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. New members are always welcome to join us! We tie quilts; prepare kits and so much more! We are excited to see you at our next gathering!

St. James Community Meal: Each Saturday at 11:30 a.m. St. James provides a community meal. As you may have noticed, they are currently renovating their facilities. To help them continue to serve our community, we at Zion are pleased to provide a place for them to commune.

Sunday Services: Each Sunday, Zion Lutheran Church offers a worship service for you. Our 8:45 a.m. Contemporary Worship service is held downstairs in Room 100, a very warm and welcoming start to your day. Our 10:00 a.m. Traditional Worship service is held in our beautiful Sanctuary which houses our grand organ. In the evening, we open the red warehouse at 5:00 p.m. for our Food Pantry. Zion opens our doors again downstairs at 5:45 p.m. for a community meal, followed by our outreach worship at 6:00 p.m. where we invite all to Discover Zion!

Summer Schedule: Adult Forum, Sunday School, Tuesday Morning Bible Study, Augsburg Circle, Rebekah Circle, and Eisleben Circle are not meeting in the summer. Project Day will only meet on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month. Enjoy your summer; we can’t wait to meet again!

People to People: The annual Back to School Project is here again! People to People is searching for volunteers Sunday, August 6, through Thursday, August 10, 2017 at the Wooster Church of the Nazarene. The opportunities include: unload, set-up, distribution, restock & straighten, and clean-up. Please complete the volunteer form and mail or email it to People to People. You may also ask the church office to send it in for you!

Lunch Bunch: Will be meeting on Wednesday August 9th at 1:00 p.m.! The Women’s Lunch Bunch invites all women to join them at the Tavern at The Ole Jaol. While the women are away, the Men’s Lunch Bunch invites all men to Leroy’s Place. Summer is coming to a close. Getting the most out of these last few days of summer includes having lunch with the Lunch Bunch! We will be looking for you! (The Lunch Bunch meets once each month. We invite you and your loved ones out to join either the Women’s or Men’s Lunch Bunch for good food and fellowship!)

Youth Ministry News: We are looking for a few good souls who would like to volunteer their time on Sundays at 9:30 a.m. to be a Sunday School Teacher. We will ease our way into the school year by testing the waters with a group activity each Sunday. Once we know who is coming to Sunday School, we will be able to determine age groups and class needs. We will begin groups on August 20th, with our Sunday School Rally Day on September 17th. If interested in volunteering, please contact the church office, or Courtney Nolt. Please prayerfully consider fulfilling this need. Our children and our church’s future needs us to shine now. Please help us share God’s message!
